Documents we translate into English
- Birth and death certificates, including older handwritten municipal and panchayat records
- Marriage certificates and marriage registration records
- School and university mark sheets, transcripts, degree and migration certificates
- Affidavits, gazette notifications for a change of name, and court documents
- Property records such as sale deeds and land records, for estate or financial matters
- Police and character certificates
Many Indian documents are already printed in both English and a regional language. Send us a scan first: if the parts that matter are already in English, you may not need a full translation, and we'll tell you.
Who asks for a certified English translation
- USCIS. Federal rules (8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)) require a full English translation that the translator certifies as complete and accurate, together with the translator's certification that they are competent to translate from the language into English. We include that certification with every USCIS translation. USCIS does not approve or license translation companies, so be wary of anyone claiming to be “USCIS-approved.”
- Illinois schools, colleges and credential evaluators reviewing Indian transcripts and degrees.
- Courts, attorneys and employers, for affidavits, name changes and records.
- Banks and estate matters, for property and death records.
Requirements differ by office, so ask the office receiving your document whether it needs a certified translation only, or a notarized one as well. We offer both.
Going the other way: English into Indian languages
We also translate U.S. documents from English into these languages, for example for use in India alongside an apostille for India.
How it works
- Send a clear scan or phone photo through our secure quote form, or bring the document to our Naperville office at 682 Illinois Route 59 (call or text 847-436-5222 before walking in).
- Get a quote before any work begins. A page is up to about 250 words.
- We translate and check names, dates and numbers against your original, keeping spellings consistent with your passport.
- Delivery: a secure download, or a notarized paper set for pickup or shipping.
Why people choose Efficient Biometrics for documents going abroad
- Translation, notary and apostille in one order. We translate, have our certificate signed before an Illinois notary, and take it to the Illinois Secretary of State for the apostille. One order, one point of contact.
- Certificates anyone can verify. Every Certificate of Translation Accuracy carries a QR code and a unique reference and code. Scanning it opens our verification page, which confirms the certificate is genuine and how many pages it covers, without showing any personal details.
- Tamper-evident paper sets. Certificate, source copy and translation are bound together, initialled on every page and sealed with a serial-numbered tamper-evident sticker.
- Honest answers on sworn translations. If your country only accepts its own sworn translators, we tell you up front rather than sell you a translation that will be refused.
- A real office. 682 Illinois Route 59, Naperville, with an in-house notary and our own apostille service. Call or text 847-436-5222 before walking in.
- Careful with your documents. Uploads are encrypted, never sent by email, and deleted 90 days after delivery.
