  • FBI background check (channeling)
  • Notary public and mobile notary services

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any service at any time without prior notice. Availability of specific services may vary.

3. Appointments

3.1 Scheduling

Appointments may be requested through our online appointment request form, by phone, or by text at 847-436-5222. Submitting an appointment request does not guarantee a confirmed appointment. We will contact you to confirm availability and finalize scheduling.

3.2 Walk-Ins

Walk-in appointments are welcome during business hours, subject to availability. We recommend calling or texting ahead to confirm we can accommodate you without a wait.

3.3 Cancellations and No-Shows

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify us as soon as possible by calling or texting 847-436-5222. Repeated no-shows may result in a requirement for advance deposit for future bookings.

3.4 Mobile Appointments

Mobile appointments are subject to a travel fee in addition to service fees. Scheduling a mobile appointment constitutes agreement to pay the travel fee quoted at the time of booking. If we arrive at the scheduled location and the appointment cannot proceed due to circumstances within the client's control (e.g., signer not present, document not ready), a trip fee may still apply.

4. Client Responsibilities

4.1 Valid Identification

All clients must present a valid, non-expired government-issued photo ID (driver's license, state ID, passport, or military ID) containing their photograph and signature. We cannot provide fingerprinting or notary services without acceptable identification. We are not responsible for delays or inability to serve clients who arrive without proper ID.

4.2 Accurate Information

Clients are responsible for providing accurate and complete information, including the correct ORI code, purpose code, and any agency-specific forms required for fingerprint submissions. Efficient Biometrics will submit fingerprints to the agency and routing information provided by the client. We are not responsible for delays, rejections, or incorrect routing resulting from inaccurate information provided by the client or the requesting agency.

4.3 Document Readiness (Notary)

For notary appointments, clients are responsible for ensuring documents are complete and ready to sign before the appointment. For jurat-type notarizations (sworn statements and affidavits), clients must not sign the document before appearing before the notary. Efficient Biometrics is not responsible for documents that are incomplete, improperly prepared, or that are rejected by a receiving party after notarization.

4.4 Mental Capacity (Notary)

All signers must be of sound mind and acting voluntarily at the time of notarization. Our notary reserves the right to decline to notarize if there are reasonable grounds to question a signer's competency, willingness, or understanding of the document.

5. Payment

All payments are collected in person at the time of service. We accept cash and major credit cards (including tap-to-pay). Service fees and any applicable travel fees will be disclosed before services are rendered. Fees are subject to change without prior notice.

Notary fees are governed by the Illinois Notary Public Act, which sets a maximum fee of $5 per notarial act. Mobile notary appointments include a travel fee in addition to the notary fee.

6. Processing Times and Results

For fingerprinting services, Efficient Biometrics is responsible for accurately capturing and electronically transmitting your fingerprints to the designated agency. We are not responsible for the processing time, actions, or decisions of any third-party government agency (including the FBI, Illinois State Police) after fingerprints are transmitted.

Estimated processing timeframes are provided as guidance only and are not guaranteed:

  • Livescan transmission to ISP: typically within hours of capture
  • Agency processing and background check results: typically 24โ€“72 hours
  • FBI channeling results: typically 1โ€“8 hours

Rejection of fingerprints by an agency due to print quality is rare with Livescan. If prints are rejected by the receiving agency, we will re-capture at no additional charge during the same appointment. Rejections discovered after the appointment may require a new appointment.

7. No Legal Advice

Efficient Biometrics and its staff are not attorneys. Nothing on our Site, in our guides, or communicated by our staff constitutes legal advice. We cannot advise you on which documents to sign, the legal effect of any document, your rights under any agreement, or whether any particular fingerprinting requirement applies to you. For legal questions, consult a licensed Illinois attorney.

8. No Professional Licensing Advice

Information provided on this Site about fingerprinting requirements for specific Illinois professions or licenses is for general informational purposes only and may not reflect current requirements. Always verify requirements directly with the relevant licensing authority (e.g., IDFPR).
